Our Story

25 YEARS
OF STEEL.

From a single welding bay in 1999 to one of Edmonton's most capable fabrication shops.

Founded 1999
The Vantec Story

Vantec Fabrication Corp. was founded in 1999 by Rick Vanderhoeven, a journeyman welder who'd spent fifteen years working for fabrication shops across northern Alberta. He started with two welding bays, a used ironworker, and a handful of oilfield clients who needed reliable structural work on short timelines.

The early years were built entirely on word of mouth. Vantec earned a reputation in Edmonton's industrial northeast for doing exactly what the drawings said, delivering on time, and handling changes without drama. By 2005, the shop had grown to 12,000 sq ft and 20 employees. By 2010, Vantec was CWB-certified and ABSA-registered.

Rick's son Trevor Vanderhoeven joined in 2012 and took over as President in 2020. Under Trevor's leadership, Vantec expanded to its current 40,000 sq ft facility, added a full CNC plasma cutting line and in-house powder coat shop, and grew the team to 80 employees.

Today, Vantec Fabrication is one of Edmonton's largest independently-owned steel fabricators — still family-operated, still CWB-certified, and still measured by whether the steel fits on site.
